Terms of Use
SwapSignal helps collectors of trading cards and other collectibles find each other. It is not involved in the trades themselves. Please read these Terms before using the service.
Version 2026-08-19 — in effect from 19 August 2026
1. About these Terms
SwapSignal is operated by [OPERATING ENTITY — TO BE CONFIRMED BEFORE LAUNCH] (ABN [ABN — TO BE CONFIRMED]) ("we", "us", "our"). You can contact us at [CONTACT EMAIL — TO BE CONFIRMED].
These Terms are an agreement between you and us about how you may use SwapSignal. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use SwapSignal.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we will publish a new version and ask you to accept it before you continue using the service. The version you accepted, and the date you accepted it, are recorded against your account.
Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect and how we handle it. It forms part of your agreement with us.
2. Who can use SwapSignal
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. When you sign up, we ask you to confirm that you are 18 or older. We do not ask for your date of birth.
This is a decision about the first version of SwapSignal, not a judgement about younger collectors. We may introduce a way for under-18 collectors to take part in future, with appropriate protections.
You are responsible for keeping your account secure and for everything done through it. Please tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to your account.
3. SwapSignal is independent
SwapSignal is an independent collector platform. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or associated with Select Australia, the Australian Rugby League Commission, the National Rugby League (NRL), any NRL club, or their respective affiliates.
The same is true of every other manufacturer, publisher, retailer, sporting body, club, studio or rights holder whose products collectors list here — including, without limitation, Woolworths Group Limited, and The Walt Disney Company and its subsidiaries, including Marvel and Lucasfilm. Naming any of them is a disclaimer, not a claim of any relationship.
All product names, character names, team names, player names, trademarks and designs referred to on SwapSignal are the property of their respective owners. They appear here only to identify the items that collectors are describing to each other. Their use does not imply any affiliation or endorsement, we claim no rights in them, and nothing in these Terms gives you permission to reproduce them.
SwapSignal does not currently host or display images of any item. Our catalogue holds text information only, such as item numbers, names, the team or franchise an item belongs to, and print run details.
4. What SwapSignal does, and what it does not do
SwapSignal helps you list the items you have available to trade, list the items you want, and find other collectors who might be a good match. That is the whole of the service.
In particular, SwapSignal:
- is not a party to any trade between collectors
- does not buy or sell cards or other collectibles
- does not process payments
- does not provide escrow or hold anything on your behalf
- never takes possession of any item
- does not verify the identity of users
- does not verify the authenticity, value, rarity or condition of any item
- does not guarantee that another collector will complete a trade, or complete it as promised
Any trade you make is an agreement between you and the other collector. You decide who to trade with, what to trade, and on what terms. We are not involved in that decision, and we cannot resolve a dispute about it for you.
5. Arranging trades
You and the other collector arrange your trade yourselves, whether you meet in person or send items by mail. SwapSignal does not organise, supervise or take part in that arrangement.
If you trade by mail, you are responsible for your own postage arrangements — how you package and protect the items, what postage or tracking you use, whether you insure the parcel, and what happens if it is delayed, lost or damaged. We recommend agreeing these details with the other collector before anything is sent.
If you meet in person, please take sensible precautions. Meeting in a public place during the day, telling someone you trust where you are going, and taking someone with you are all reasonable steps. This is general suggestion, not safety advice for your situation, and we cannot make any meeting safe.
Use your own judgement about whether to go ahead with any trade. If something feels wrong, you are free to walk away at any point.
6. Contacting other collectors
SwapSignal includes its own messaging, so you can talk to another collector without giving out any contact details. The rules in section 9 about how you must behave apply to messages exactly as they do everywhere else on SwapSignal.
We do not read, monitor or moderate the content of your messages. Only you and the person you are talking to can see them — not our staff and not our administrators. One consequence is worth being clear about: if you report someone for something they said in a message, we cannot read the conversation to judge it. We can act on the report and on how the account behaves, but the message itself is not visible to us.
If someone bothers you, block them. Blocking stops any further messages between you in both directions, and takes effect immediately.
You may also choose to add a Facebook or Messenger link to your profile as an alternative way to be contacted. This is entirely optional. Your link is only shown to others if you turn on the contact option, and you can turn it off at any time.
Facebook and Messenger are services provided by Meta, not by us. They are independent third-party services with their own terms and privacy practices, and we have no control over them.
We check that a link you provide points to Facebook or Messenger, but we cannot confirm that it is current, that it is genuine, or that the account it points to belongs to the person who supplied it. Please use your judgement when contacting someone or responding to contact.
7. Catalogue information
Our catalogue is compiled from publicly available checklists and product listings. We take care with it, but it may contain errors, gaps or out-of-date information, and item details can differ from what is listed.
Do not rely on the catalogue as confirmation that an item exists, is genuine, or is what someone says it is. Check the actual item yourself before trading.
If you spot a mistake, please tell us so we can look into it.
8. Ratings and reputation
SwapSignal does not currently have ratings or reviews. If we add them, any rating, review or reputation information will be the opinion of the collector who left it. It is not a statement, endorsement or guarantee by us, and it is not a substitute for your own judgement about whether to trade with someone.
9. How you must behave
When using SwapSignal, you must not:
- attempt to scam, defraud or mislead another collector
- harass, threaten, bully or abuse anyone
- impersonate another person, or claim an affiliation you do not have
- list items you do not have, or misrepresent what you are offering
- post unlawful, offensive or discriminatory content
- collect other users’ information for purposes unrelated to trading, or use it to contact people who have not opted in
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the service, other accounts, or our systems
- use automated tools to scrape or bulk-collect information from the service
- use SwapSignal for anything unlawful
You can block another collector at any time. Blocking works in both directions: neither of you will appear to the other in discovery features. You can also report behaviour that concerns you, and we will look into it.
10. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or close an account that we reasonably believe has breached these Terms, is being used to harm other collectors, or is being used unlawfully. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond.
You can stop using SwapSignal at any time and ask us to delete your account. Deleting your account removes your profile, your trade and want lists, and your other account information, as described in our Privacy Policy.
11. Our intellectual property
The SwapSignal name, the site design and the software behind it belong to us or our licensors. You may use the service as intended, but you may not copy, resell or redistribute it.
What you write on SwapSignal — your display name, your bio, your notes and your lists — remains yours. By adding it, you give us permission to store it and show it to other collectors as the features you have chosen require.
12. Availability
SwapSignal is provided as it is, and it is still being developed. Features may change, and the service may be unavailable at times, including for maintenance or for reasons outside our control. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error free.
13. Your rights under Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy, or any guarantee, warranty or other term or condition, that applies to you under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth), including the Australian Consumer Law, or any other law where doing so would be unlawful.
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Those guarantees apply regardless of anything else in these Terms, and the rest of this section applies only to the extent the law allows.
Where we are permitted to limit our liability, and where the Australian Consumer Law allows us to do so, our liability for a failure to comply with a consumer guarantee in relation to services is limited to resupplying the services or paying the cost of having them resupplied.
14. Responsibility and liability
Subject to section 13, and to the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for:
- the conduct of other collectors, whether on SwapSignal or elsewhere
- whether a trade happens, or whether it happens as agreed
- the authenticity, condition, value or description of any item
- loss, damage or delay to items sent by mail
- anything that happens when collectors meet in person
- the content, availability or practices of third-party services such as Facebook or Messenger
- errors in catalogue information
We are responsible for loss that we cause and that the law says we are responsible for. We are not asking you to give up rights you cannot legally give up, and we are not trying to avoid liability for our own fraud or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
You are responsible for your own conduct on SwapSignal, including how you treat other collectors and whether what you list is accurate.
15. Governing law
SwapSignal is operated from Australia and these Terms are governed by the laws of [STATE OR TERRITORY — TO BE CONFIRMED BEFORE LAUNCH], Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that place and of the Commonwealth of Australia.
If part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
16. Contact
If you have a question about these Terms, or a concern about something on SwapSignal, please contact us at [CONTACT EMAIL — TO BE CONFIRMED].
